Queen Of My Heart

Yeye Cabaret. An evening of fine dining and premium entertainment,
as we toast to our mothers every Mother's day

Sequel to last year’s theme - From Mother, With Love, we continue with our sense of appreciation - not a nostalgic one this time - but one to assert how much our mothers mean to us.

Straight from the heart, we celebrate her true worth as royal - being the Queen Of Our Hearts - who has ruled our world with love and wonders. She, who bestowed us with the gifts of life - in the nurture and nature of love - holding forth the home front when the occasion arose. Our heart beats in rhythm of gratitude to those fond memories she created - moments we shared, moments we cherish. So today, in appreciation, we pay tribute to her in honour of who we are today, in the highest regard of excellence - Her Majesty!

Yeye is not just a (yoruba) name ascribed to a woman to suggest her maternal role (often the matriarch) in a household, but a high rank - so much so, as a chieftaincy title conferred on a distinguished female personality (often the wife of a chief) whose meaningful contribution to her community is acknowledged and celebrated.

Our theme this year, therefore, is most apt as we celebrate and toast to our mothers - individually affirming her as the Queen Of My Heart.

Now, coming to its fourth edition this year, Yeye Cabaret has reached yet another milestone. We are therefore inspired to further push the boundaries of creative possibilities to enrich the content of the cabaret - by dividing the occasion into two parts - the Pre-event - which we call the cocktail and the main event, otherwise called the cabaret. The idea is to give a total experience of sharing quality time with one’s mother on Mother’s Day.

We have taken an innovative approach in re-defining the concept of Yeye Cabaret by curating a series of creative activities which typically, anyone will engage in with his/her mum to celebrate Mothers Day - something special!

These may include; shopping, fine dinning, photo-shoot, going to the cinema/theatre etc. These have all been carefully crafted into the experience of the Yeye Cabaret.

Overall, Yeye Cabaret is designed to be a unique engagement - a breath of fresh air for the entertainment scene - One where the guests are not mere spectators as audience but actually drive the narrative through engaged activities - A unique Mother’s Day event!

Pre-event activities include;

  • Red Carpet

By virtue of Yeye Cabaret being a cultural and artistic showcase (going by the name), we want to celebrate our rich African culture through fashion. Hence, as our guests grace the red carpet, they bring flair to the occasion with their “Sunday Best” following our dress code - African inspired!

More so, every lady who appears on the red carpet, receives a complimentary stem rose to appreciate the mother in her.

  • Photobooth

Families step into our photo-booth to take fun photos in different poses, using a variety of creative props available to express individual interpretations of who our mother is to us i.e. the Queen Of Our Hearts.

  • Exhibition

The latest addition to our content is the mini-mall - a faux mall where brands get to showcase the products and services and make sales on the day. It is a strategic way for organisations to extend their marketing footprints by directly interfacing with the target market - mothers. This is the business end of Yeye Cabaret.

As the name implies the setting is that of a cabaret, where we convert a hall into a pop-up restaurant - guests are all seated in a banquet style dining with meals served from a menu, whilst being serenaded to live performances on-stage. Typically, we have a guest chef who hosts the cabaret - guess who’s coming for dinner?

The highlight of the cabaret is the Iya Ni Wura segment, where a surprise tribute is paid to an unsuspecting mum. Thereafter a toast is made to all the Queens in the house. For the first time ever, we will feature tributes from children - both home and abroad - who send in video messages to their mums via social media, to be displayed on our screens at the event.

The event is rounded off by a group photograph of all mothers present.

Welcome to Yeye Cabaret 2017 - Queen of My heart!
